COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT + PUBLIC ART

GMCC MURAL

We created this mural in July 2022 through a partnership with the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches. The goal of this project was to bring the community together and engage them through a shared creative experience.

Our team set up on 11th Avenue and Lake Street with snacks and chalk, and encouraged kids from the neighborhood to join us and create sidewalk art. 

We brainstormed with the kids to come up with an inspiring question: “If you could create a solution for anything, what would it be?”

Once we had gathered their answers, it was time for artist and designer Tom Janssen to take the lead on creating the mural. He worked alongside the neighborhood artists to prepare the wall for painting and together they incorporated their answers into the finished work.
