IMPACTFUL ACTIVATION
THE ALLEY PROJECT
In May 2022, our team was brought in by the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District to help further their work to bring vibrancy, safety, and community to the urban scape of downtown.
The goal for this project: transform a downtown alley into a beautiful, activated community space where everyone is welcome.
To activate this alley, we brought together a team of students and artists, along with planters from Helping Hand Companies, and transformed the alley into a curated work of art and greenery, the centerpiece of which is a colorful 16,000-square-foot mural.
The alley would soon become a vibrant and welcoming backdrop for community events, gatherings, games, yoga classes, and so much more.
THE PROCESS
Where others see an empty space, we imagine future gatherings. An inside look at the love and hard work poured into beautifying the space by Helping Hand Companies (@helpinghandcompanies)!
HHC transported vessels, prepped them for planting, and filled the new planters to the brim with greenery. We planted flowers as well as edible plants such as peppers and kale to create a small urban farm.
Where it was once bare, now it's filled with eye catching flowers to not only boost your mood but also serve as an urban pollination zone.
